About Our Founder

Hello there, my name is Kristine Hughes. I'm a therapist, supervisor, and advocate who believes in the power of connection, creativity and authenticity. Over the past 12 years, I've worked in a variety of mental health settings including day treatment, residential and in-home. I work with all ages, and have specialized training and experience in using play therapy and providing supervision. I'm passionate about fostering spaces that honor all bodies, identities and lived experiences.

As a white, queer, cisgender woman, I am deeply committed to creating an affirming space for all individuals. Social justice is at the heart of my work and I view therapy as an act of both healing and resistance- supporting those who have been undervalued or silenced navigate the challenges of systemic injustice. My goal is to create a space where you feel truly valued, heard, and seen.

Grounded in Practice

With over a decade of experience supporting children, teens, families and professionals, my work has been rooted in creating spaces of safety, curiosity and growth. As mentioned above, I've had the privilege of serving in a variety of settings- from in-home, day treatment and residential programs to non-profit outpatient and private practice- where play, connection and compassion guide the healing process. My journey has also included developing and leading play therapy trainings, supervising emerging therapists and collaborating with schools and organizations to strengthen play-based and trauma informed care. Each role has depended my belief that healing happens through relationship, creativity and courage.
